You asked for it, you got it..... a picture of me on horseback. I'm
usually the one taking the pictures, you see. Taken at a FRCC clinic in
Colorado, 2002.
Our new blue barn!
Here is a picture of the new horse barn that was erected on December 12, 2009.
It is 6' wider and 4' shorter than the red barns that were built in 2007.
I think I like this design and color much better. It will be split so there
will be room for 2 horse stalls and a 8' by 18' tack storage area... right
by the round pen. No more pulling a wagon full of stuff 500' across the
property! Coast to Coast carports make very good buildings. Be sure to visit
their website to see how versatile their outbuildings are.
The four red barns are a new landmark on Hwy 26, so when I'm telling people
how to get here, it's easy... 1/2 mile west of McKenna Road on Hwy 26. Look
for the four red barns on the south side of the highway.
This picture shows the proximity of the building to the round pen. It allows about
12' of space between them, so we can get the mower and a pretty good sized tractor
between them to keep the weeds down. I am so excited about this new addition. Our
dreams will be about 80% complete by this time next year. Winter time does put a
crimp in my plans, but maybe God gave us winter time to slow us down a little bit.
In the picture below you can see the "spines" of the building. This building
will be split at the front into two 9' X 12' horse stalls, with 50'X 30' runs.
I plan to add electricity out to this barn. Also plan to dig a new water well
in 2010 and put a couple of hydrants out to the horse area. Right now we have
to run about 300-500 feet of hose from the house to get water out to the horses.
A royal pain in the winter time. Come on 2010!!! I plan to put two of my horses
in this barn, so I can add one more horse boarder to "the family". The north end
of the barn will be closed, so we can store tack and grain out here by the horses.
It will be so nice not to have to pull a wagon full of equipment out to the round
pen every time I want to work with the horses! It takes a lot of resources to get
a horse facility the way you want it, especially since the place was meant to
be a cattle facility. Slowly... we will get there. ;-)
This picture you can see the area where the runs will be. Horse panels are so versatile
for horse facilities. You are not locked into a defined confinement area like when you
have to build fences or corrals. They look nice. I'll be adding pictures to this
page as we build the walls and runs to this new area. Stayed tuned for the next exciting
episiode of "As The Barn Door Turns".

Go to the "Driving Lessons" page to review the story of Elaine and Smokey, a paint miniature
horse who came to the Rockn Bee to begin a new era in Elaine's life - driving and
someday showing her miniature horses.
December 9, 2008
Today I received a phone call from a young lady who boarded her horse here at the
Rockn Bee in March of 2006, during the EWC rodeo competition. Kortney is from Idaho
and kept her horse named Bobby here for two days while she competed in the barrel
racing competition at the rodeo. One of the days was a very wet, cold and windy
day (big surprise for that time of the year, huh?) Kortney was leading Bobby from
the round pen to the horse trailer and I stopped her to see if there was anything
she needed for her horses. We talked a few minutes and somehow the subject of "Healing
Touch" came up. I was going to demonstrate on Bobby the technique I use when applying
this modality. I put my right hand across Bobby's forehead and my left hand on her
right shoulder. She flinched as though she had received an electric shock. Kortney
was surprised at that response, saying Bobby had never before responded like that to someone
touching her, like she was recoiling from the touch. She asked me what it was.
I stretched out my hands, facing each other, about 9 inches apart. I said, "Put your
hand between my hands and tell me if you feel anything." She did, and pulled her hand
back, saying, "Wow, how did you do that?" I said, "I gather energy from the center
of the Earth and from the "Universal Source of Goodness" (what I sometimes call God)
and channel it through my body into my hands, so I can use it to heal." She seemed
to be satisfied with that answer. About 10 minutes later Kortney looked at her hands
and said, "I can still feel that tingling in my hand, that is awesome!" Kortney left
Torrington the next day, and we exchanged a few emails in the months that followed.
Over the course of time we kind of quit communicating, but I have shared Kortney and
Bobby's story with many people since that weekend.
Imagine my surprise to have received a call from Kortney today, and what she had to say
was really amazing. Kortney had solicited the services of an animal communicator,
to do a reading on Bobby, her horse. The communicator told Kortney that Bobby
liked the woman who "made her feel warm". It took her quite awhile to figure out that
woman was me. She thought it was a vet who had done some chiropractic work on her
horse, but Bobby insisted that it was the woman who made her feel warm. I had to
share this story with folks who regularly visit my website. It made my day that her
horse remembered me. Nobody can convince me that horses aren't special!! And people
who can communicate (two ways) with them are very special too. Kortney is a unique
owner who believes in her horse in ways that most people wouldn't even consider. Think
about what you are missing folks.
Here are two pictures of Bobby and Kortney...
